Synopsis

A driving simulation in which you haul cargo across a large, condensed map of Europe. You start by taking delivery jobs for others, then buy your own trucks, hire drivers and grow a haulage company, all at a calm pace with real-world roads, cities and radio stations along the way.

What people say

Critics at release found it surprisingly absorbing, praising its accessible controls, detailed trucks and the variety of its roads, while faulting clumsy traffic AI and sparse, generic cities. Steady updates and map expansions over more than a decade have kept it popular. Players today value it as a relaxing long-term hobby, but often call the core loop repetitive in long sessions and complain about the number and price of DLC needed to see the full map.

Design today

4.5 / 5
  • ✓Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboard

Keyboard, controller and steering wheel are all supported with adjustable steering, and players raise few control complaints, though a controller cannot hold every binding. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, vaporlens.app.

  • ✓Menus, text and interface are clear on today's screens

The game runs at 4K and ultrawide resolutions with an adjustable field of view from 40 to 120 degrees, and its graphics menu shows preview images and performance cost beside each option. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.

  • ✓Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progress

The game autosaves regularly and lets you save by hand, and the loading screen can list autosaves so a crash or accident costs only a short stretch of driving. Source: steamcommunity.com.

  • ✓It teaches itself: no guide needed to make progress

Players begin with freelance jobs in borrowed trucks and take a loan to buy their own, and the GPS and map guide each delivery. Critics singled out the game's accessibility at release. Source: en.wikipedia.org.

  • ✗Pacing drags: grind, filler or forced backtracking

Progression is slow by design and the delivery loop is often called repetitive and monotonous in long sessions. Source: vaporlens.app.

  • ✓Camera and movement never fight the player

Several cab and outside views work as expected, and players raise no camera complaints outside VR stutter; this rests on the absence of complaints. Source: vaporlens.app.
