Synopsis

A top-down management sim from Introversion Software in which players design, build and run a private prison. Players lay out cells, kitchens and yards, hire staff and set daily routines while keeping inmates fed, safe and unlikely to riot or escape.

What people say

Critics in 2015 called it one of the deepest builder games in years, praising a simulation that produces memorable moments on its own, though several found the start hard to get into. Some reviews also called its tone uneven, the story campaign dull and the tutorials too thin. Players today still praise its depth and replay value, but they often complain about bugs, odd guard and prisoner behavior, and a flood of paid expansions under publisher Paradox that make the base game feel incomplete. Many also dislike the external launcher now required to start it.
