Synopsis
A side-scrolling beat 'em up from The Behemoth with a hand-drawn cartoon look, for up to four players together on one screen or online. You pick a knight, fight through castles, forests and deserts to rescue the princesses, and level up your character, collect weapons and gather animal companions along the way.
What people say
Critics praised the original Xbox 360 release for its art style, humor, simple but satisfying combat and replay value, with early online connection problems as the main complaint; the PC version has too few critic reviews for a Metacritic score. The Steam version later received the free Remastered update with sharper textures, an uncapped frame rate and better online play. Players today still love it as a co-op game with friends, praising the combat variety, unlockables and soundtrack. The most common criticism is that fights and bosses grow repetitive, especially for anyone playing alone.
Playability today
Playability runs from 1 to 5. It is the average of two parts. Each part starts at 1 and climbs to 5 as more of its checks pass. Read the method.

Design today: 4.5 / 5
- ✓Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboardThe Steam version lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense pads, and the four-button attack and jump scheme is simple on pad or keyboard. Source: store.steampowered.com.
- ✓Menus, text and interface are clear on today's screensThe map, shops and character screens use large cartoon art and short labels, so they stay readable at any modern resolution. Source: en.wikipedia.org.
- ✓Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progressProgress and unlocks are saved automatically after each stage, and the game can be quit between levels without losing characters or items. The console corruption bugs described by Wikipedia do not apply to the Steam build. Source: en.wikipedia.org.
- ✓It teaches itself: no guide needed to make progressThe attacks, combos and magic are explained in the first stages and the game uses few systems, so no outside guide is needed. Source: en.wikipedia.org.
- ✗Pacing holds up: little grind, filler or forced backtrackingHigher difficulties and the other characters ask for repeated runs through the same levels to gain levels and unlock gear, and later stages recycle enemies. Source: en.wikipedia.org.
- ✓Camera and movement never fight the playerThe camera is a fixed side-scroller that follows the lead player, and four players share one screen without the view getting in the way. Source: en.wikipedia.org.
