Synopsis

A compilation of id Software's first two Doom games, fast first-person shooters in which a lone marine fights demons through military bases, hell and an overrun Earth. You hunt for keycards, find secrets and blast through maze-like levels. The 2024 release adds every official expansion, a new campaign called Legacy of Rust and support for fan-made add-ons.

What people say

Both games were landmark hits in the 1990s, though critics already found Doom II's levels weaker and drabber than the original's. The 2024 compilation drew warm reviews for its responsive controls, quick saving, generous extras and new campaign, with complaints about weapon switching on a controller and dim lighting in some levels. Steam players rate it overwhelmingly positive. Some newer players still get stuck on a few cryptic exits in Doom II.
