Synopsis

A short horror game in which a night guard at a family pizza restaurant must survive five shifts from midnight to six in the morning. Unable to move from the office, the player watches security cameras and shuts doors against animatronic mascots that roam the building, all while a limited power supply runs down.

What people say

Critics liked the simple premise and the tension of tracking threats through grainy cameras, calling it clever at playing with the player's nerves, though some saw it as a one-trick game. Players today still credit the atmosphere and the strategy of managing power, but the most common complaints are repetitive play, a slow and confusing first night, and a steep difficulty spike in the hardest custom setting.

Design today: 4.5 / 5

  • ✓Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboardPlay is just clicking buttons and camera panels, which works on a mouse or controller, though a few players report missed clicks. Source: vaporlens.app, pcgamingwiki.com.
  • ✓Menus, text and interface are clear on today's screensThe camera map and power meter are simple to read, though some players report odd behavior at certain resolutions and in full screen. Source: vaporlens.app.
  • ✓Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progressProgress is kept night by night, so a loss only replays a single shift of a few minutes. Source: vaporlens.app.
  • ✓It teaches itself: no guide needed to make progressRecorded phone calls explain the basics each night, though many players find the first night confusing and some suggest watching a video first; evidence on this point is thin. Source: vaporlens.app.
  • ✗Pacing holds up: little grind, filler or forced backtrackingRepetitive play is the most common complaint, since every night repeats the same routine of checking cameras and doors. Source: vaporlens.app, opencritic.com.
  • ✓Camera and movement never fight the playerThe player never moves, and switching between security cameras is quick and central to the strategy rather than a hindrance. Source: vaporlens.app.
