Synopsis
A top-down roguelike shooter in which a small band of misfits fights down through the randomly built floors of the Gungeon, a fortress said to hold a gun that can kill the past. You dodge-roll through bullet storms, collect hundreds of strange guns and items, and start over from the first floor whenever you die.
What people say
Critics in 2016 praised its huge and inventive arsenal, tight dodge-roll combat and endless replay value, often comparing it well with The Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne. The most common criticism was its steep difficulty, especially the bosses, along with too many plain guns showing up and the sense that some ideas pull against each other. Players today still call it addictive and satisfying, while warning that it is very hard.
Playability today
Playability runs from 1 to 5. It is the average of two parts. Each part starts at 1 and climbs to 5 as more of its checks pass. Read the method.
