How to get Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition running today
- If the game slows down at random, open Ini\ge3.ini in the game folder and change Timer.ThreadSafe=true to Timer.ThreadSafe=false (PCGamingWiki).
- For heavy stutter and frame drops, players recommend the fan-made Gothic 3 Parallel Universe Patch (Steam discussion).
Synopsis
Forsaken Gods is a standalone expansion to Gothic 3 set two years after its ending. The nameless hero returns to the kingdom of Myrtana to end a new war between its factions, exploring a reused part of the Gothic 3 map, taking quests, fighting in third person and raising skills from teachers.

Reception
Critics panned the 2008 release for crashes, quest-breaking bugs, long loads and weak writing, and it sits at a Metascore of 44. The 2011 Enhanced Edition by the community patch team fixed much of the technical damage and rebalanced items and skills. On Steam it is Mixed: some players enjoy it as more Gothic 3 with good music and forests, while many call the story nonsensical, the world smaller and emptier than Gothic 3, and the game still buggy and poorly optimized.
