Synopsis

A third-person action game in which Turner, a warrior rabbit, hunts the raiders who destroyed his village and uncovers a plot involving the rabbit king and a pack of starving wolves. Fights rely on timing, with reversals, disarms, kicks and weapons handled through a few context-sensitive keys. Stealth is an option too, since enemies hear footsteps and wolves can smell blood on the wind.

Reception

Critics admired its physics-driven martial arts and reversal system, made almost single-handedly by David Rosen, but called the game unpolished, with sparse levels and plain graphics. A 2017 retrospective still found the combat rewarding once mastered while noting the blocky visuals and short draw distance. Steam players remain mostly positive and praise the ragdoll fights. The most common complaints are a harsh learning curve and wolves that feel overpowered.

Design today

3/5
  • Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboard
Movement uses WASD with the mouse for looking and attacking, and moves come from a few context-sensitive keys rather than long combos. All keys can be rebound, though there is no controller support. Source: gamingonlinux.com, pcgamingwiki.com, steamcommunity.com.
  • Menus, text or interface are hard to read on today's screens
The game offers only three widescreen resolutions, topping out at 1344×840, and anything sharper requires editing config.txt or switching to the community OSS build. The HUD-free display itself is clean. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, lwn.net.
  • Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progress
The campaign is played as separate missions picked from a map of the island, and progress through the missions is kept between sessions in a local save, except in developer mode. Source: gamingonlinux.com, pcgamingwiki.com.
  • Hard to make progress without a guide
The in-game tutorial covers basic moves but leaves out key mechanics such as how wolves track scent, and the developer itself warns of a steep learning curve and points players to a video guide. Source: gamingonlinux.com, wolfire.com, steamcommunity.com.
  • Pacing drags: grind, filler or forced backtracking
Difficulty spikes sharply once wolves appear, and players across reviews and discussion threads call them overpowered, often replaying the same fight many times or dropping to the easiest setting. Source: steamcommunity.com, steamcommunity.com, steamcommunity.com.
  • Camera and movement never fight the player
The third-person camera follows the mouse at high frame rates, with adjustable sensitivity and inverted look, though the field of view is fixed and one recent player found camera turning too fast. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, steamcommunity.com.
