Each level asks you to complete several objectives, such as freeing captives and activating beacons, while you collect a large arsenal of strange weapons. 3.5/5- Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboardMouse and keyboard controls are fully remappable with adjustable sensitivity, and controllers work with remapping and on-screen prompts for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch pads. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.
- Menus, text and interface are clear on today's screensThe remaster redrew the HUD for widescreen, supports 4K and ultrawide, and adds on-screen objective markers to track level goals. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, gamingnexus.com, destructoid.com.
- Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progressThe remaster adds a quicksave that works anywhere, on top of the original checkpoint portals where Adon refills ammo and health. Source: gamingnexus.com, destructoid.com.
- Hard to make progress without a guidePrimary objectives sit behind hidden walls or well off the main path in levels with generic layouts, so a missed goal means combing the level again. The remaster's objective markers help but did not stop reviewers getting lost. Source: destructoid.com, gamingnexus.com.
- Pacing drags: grind, filler or forced backtrackingEach level runs about an hour, and most levels need a power-up found in the following level, which forces backtracking through earlier stages. Source: gamingnexus.com, destructoid.com.
- Camera and movement never fight the playerThe first-person view offers a field of view from 45 to 179 degrees with Hor+ widescreen scaling. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.
