How to get Delta Force: Land Warrior running today

Synopsis

A tactical first-person shooter in which players lead a Delta Force team through a campaign of counter-terrorist operations, from hostage rescues to raids on oil rigs and missions around the Egyptian pyramids. Large outdoor maps reward long-range sniping and careful approaches, and each operative carries a specialty and a limited loadout. Missions can also be played as instant actions, in co-op or in large multiplayer matches.

Reception

Critics in 2000 rated it as average to good, liking the huge landscapes, detailed character models, long-range sniping and big multiplayer maps, while faulting slow-reacting enemy AI, low single-player challenge and flat weapon models. It was seen as a clear step up from the voxel-based earlier games in the series. Steam players today mostly recommend it out of nostalgia, though they still call the AI junky and several report that getting the game to load missions on modern hardware takes wrappers and trial and error.
