Synopsis
Kane's Wrath is the expansion to the real-time strategy game Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, built around a Brotherhood of Nod campaign that spans the years before, during and after the main game's war. It adds new units, three sub-factions for each side, and a turn-based Global Conquest mode layered over real-time battles, all tied together by live-action cutscenes with Joe Kucan as Kane.

Reception
Reviewers in 2008 liked the return of Kane and the heavy use of live-action scenes, and felt the expansion gave the series back some of its personality, but several found the campaign uneven and the new sub-factions only small variations on the existing armies. Common criticisms included zoom that barely goes past the default level, no strategic map, and objectives that appear without warning midway through long missions. Recent Steam reviews are mostly positive, praising the Nod story, the base building and the skirmish play, while some players complain about weak campaign AI and large groups of units that stop moving. The game is no longer sold on its own on Steam and now comes only as part of the Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection.

Design today
3/5- Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboardIt uses the standard mouse-driven RTS scheme with a build sidebar and remappable hotkeys, though there is no controller support. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, worthplaying.com.
- Menus, text or interface are hard to read on today's screensZoom stays close to the default level and there is no strategic map, so units are easy to lose track of on the small minimap. Source: worthplaying.com.
- Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progressSaving is allowed at any point in a mission, which a reviewer stresses before surprise objectives, and Steam Cloud syncing of saves was added in February 2024. Source: worthplaying.com, pcgamingwiki.com.
- Hard to make progress without a guideThe expansion has no tutorial of its own, and new campaign objectives appear only after the current ones are done, which can leave a player unprepared for a defense phase. Source: worthplaying.com.
- Pacing holds up: little grind, filler or forced backtrackingThe Nod campaign moves through different eras with live-action briefings, reviewers found its missions fun, and skirmish matches move quickly. Source: bit-tech.net, steamcommunity.com.
- Camera or movement fights the playerZoom goes little past the default level and there is no strategic overview, so spread-out battles must be followed by panning, which makes orders at opposite ends of the map hard to give. Source: worthplaying.com.
