Synopsis
Star Wars: Battlefront is a large-scale shooter set in battles from both the prequel and original Star Wars films. You pick a soldier class, capture command posts, and fight alongside AI or human players on foot and in vehicles such as AT-STs, speeder bikes and starfighters. Modes include instant action, historical campaigns and a Galactic Conquest mode that plays out across a map of planets.

Reception
Critics gave the PC version a Metascore of 76, praising its movie-faithful sound, vehicles and huge battles, while noting thin single-player content and comparing it unfavorably to Battlefield in depth. On Steam it holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from about 4,300 reviews, with players valuing it as a nostalgic, quick-to-learn shooter. Common complaints today are weak allied AI, steep difficulty on Hard and a small online community that is busiest on weekends.

Design today
5/5- Controls feel natural on a modern controller or mouse and keyboardMouse and keyboard controls are fully remappable, and the 2020 update added XInput controller support, though some actions cannot share a single button. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.
- Menus, text and interface are clear on today's screensSince the 2020 update the game runs at native widescreen resolutions with correct aspect ratio; some effects render incorrectly above 1080p. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.
- Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progressBattles are short self-contained matches, and Galactic Conquest progress is saved between battles and synced through Steam Cloud. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.
- It teaches itself: no guide needed to make progressEvery map and mode shares one goal, capturing command posts or draining the enemy's reinforcements, and players can pick a different class with its own equipment each time they respawn. Source: gamingpastime.com.
- Pacing holds up: little grind, filler or forced backtrackingInstant Action drops players straight into a battle, and the campaigns and turn-based Galactic Conquest move from planet to planet without grind, though the single conquest mode can feel repetitive over time. - Camera and movement never fight the playerPlayers can switch between first-person and third-person views on foot and in vehicles, including a cockpit view in ships; high frame rates can disturb animation and physics. Source: gamingpastime.com, pcgamingwiki.com.
