How to get Two Worlds running today
- Install the NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System Software if the game closes at launch without an error (PCGamingWiki).
- Cap the frame rate at 60 in your graphics driver, since an uncapped frame rate leads to crashes on modern cards (Steam Community).
- If changing the resolution in the menu crashes the game, set it with the Steam launch option -renderer 1920,1080,1 using your own resolution (Steam Community).
- To use an Xbox controller, set EnablePad to 1 under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reality Pump\TwoWorlds\Interface in the registry (PCGamingWiki).
Synopsis
Two Worlds is an open world fantasy role-playing game from Reality Pump in which a mercenary searches the land of Antaloor for his kidnapped sister. Players roam freely on foot or horseback, take faction and side quests, and build a classless character from melee, archery, magic and alchemy skills, merging duplicate gear and spell cards to make them stronger.

Reception
Critics at release were divided, with a 65 Metascore on PC; some outlets were harsh, and Gamestyle gave it 3 out of 10 over stubborn horses and constant loading breaks. Reviewers credited the large world, deep loot and flexible skill system, and faulted the stiff writing, odd voice acting and bugs. On Steam the game is Mostly Positive today, with players enjoying it as a charming B-grade answer to Oblivion. Recent reviews still call it janky, and several note that magic, alchemy and combat are barely explained without the manual.

3.5/5- Sold or given away today by an official source
- Needs fan patches to run well on Windows 11
- ?Not confirmed yetSingle-player works without an internet connectionNo source covers the current version yet, so this check counts as open, not passed. Played it lately? Tell us
- Some content no longer works (servers, DLC, unlocks)The US server has been offline for years, and in May 2026 players reported both remaining Europe servers down as well, so online play is unreliable at best; the single-player campaign and add-ons are complete (Steam Community; Steam Community).
- Supports modern resolutions and widescreenWidescreen, ultrawide and 4K resolutions are supported (PCGamingWiki).
- No full controller support and no remappable controlsController support works only with XInput pads after a registry edit, and buttons cannot be remapped (PCGamingWiki).
- Steam Deck Verified or Playable
- No intrusive DRM or required third-party launcher account
- No pay-to-win or pushy microtransactions
- No known game-breaking bugs in the current versionLaunch crashes have documented fixes through PhysX, DirectX and codec changes, and PCGamingWiki lists no open issue that blocks progress (PCGamingWiki).
Design today
2.5/5- Controls feel awkward on a modern controller or mouse and keyboardMouse and keyboard controls are remappable, but controller support is off by default, needs a registry edit and cannot be remapped. Horse riding has a wide turning circle and poor responsiveness that critics and players both criticize. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, gamebanshee.com, steamcommunity.com.
- Menus, text and interface are clear on today's screensThe game supports widescreen, ultrawide and 4K resolutions with subtitles and full mouse menus, though only three spells fit on the hotkey bar at once. Source: pcgamingwiki.com, steamcommunity.com.
- Saving is fair: free saves or frequent checkpoints, little lost progressPlayers can save and load at any time from the game menu, a timed autosave can be switched on with an adjustable interval, and death returns the hero to a nearby healing shrine. Source: store.steampowered.com, steamcommunity.com.
- Hard to make progress without a guideThe opening tutorial is brief, and magic, alchemy and weapon differences go unexplained in game, so Steam reviewers repeatedly point new players to the PDF manual. Source: steamcommunity.com, store.steampowered.com.
- Pacing drags: grind, filler or forced backtrackingThe main quest is thin, quest goals are often unclear, and progress leans on looting every enemy and merging piles of duplicate gear, which players describe as a chore and a grind. Source: steamcommunity.com, steamcommunity.com.
- Camera or movement fights the playerOn foot the character steers with the mouse camera, but on horseback the mount turns slowly, stutters and blurs the view, and getting stuck on slopes and corners is a common complaint. Source: gamebanshee.com, steamcommunity.com, steamcommunity.com.
