Synopsis

A cooperative zombie shooter in which four survivors fight their way across the American South, from one safe room to the next, through five campaigns. An AI Director changes where enemies, items and hordes appear on every run, and a Versus mode lets players take control of the special infected.

What people say

Critics at release called it a worthy and bigger sequel, praising the variety of the five campaigns, the new special infected, melee weapons and the Versus mode. The main complaints were weak AI teammates for solo players, finale difficulty spikes and graphics that already looked dated. Players today still put it among the best co-op shooters, crediting the AI Director, the low price and a large Workshop of mods and custom campaigns for keeping tens of thousands of people playing. Server trouble and the lack of official updates are the usual grumbles.
