How to get Deus Ex: Mankind Divided running today

  1. If the game crashes or freezes, switch from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 in the launcher or graphics settings, which Steam players commonly report as more stable.
  2. If loading never finishes, turn off Threaded Optimization for the game in the Nvidia Control Panel, or add the /High launch option.
  3. If the game crashes on the title screen, delete new_game_plus.bin from the game's Steam userdata folder (337000\remote) and turn off Steam Cloud for the game, as described on PCGamingWiki.

Synopsis

A first-person action role-playing game set in 2029, two years after Human Revolution. As augmented agent Adam Jensen, you investigate a terrorist bombing from a base in a tense, segregated Prague, tackling each mission through stealth, hacking, conversation or open combat.

What people say

Critics praised the dense, detailed Prague hub, the layered level design and the freedom to mix stealth and shooting, calling it a refinement of Human Revolution. The story drew the most criticism: thin, slow in places and ending abruptly on a cliffhanger, as the planned sequel never came. Players today still rate the level design and immersive-sim freedom highly, while pointing to the short main plot, long loading times and crashes on some PCs.

  • ✓Camera and movement never fight the playerThe first-person view with a third-person cover camera works smoothly, though at very high frame rates Jensen can snag on small steps. Source: pcgamingwiki.com.
